Tamarinden
New district in Örebro where property owners reduce, produce, store and share energy in a shared local system, with legal approval for sharing between properties.
Tamarinden in Sörbyängen, Örebro, is a new district built as a prototype for climate-smart neighbourhoods. The property owners jointly reduce, produce, store and share energy in a local energy system with two internal networks for electricity and heat, solar hybrids, batteries, wastewater heat recovery and geostorage.
The Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate has granted permission for local energy sharing between the properties. Preliminary studies indicate around 30 percent energy savings and a 50 percent reduction in power demand.
The energy sharing collaboration in Tamarinden involves ÖBO, Tornet and CapMan’s residential fund, alongside Örebro municipality and other developers in the district.
